About Us
Welcome to Danforth Knife Sharpening, your local sharpening experts located near Danforth and Donlands, just a 1-minute walk from Donlands Station at 107 Strathmore Blvd. We are dedicated to one thing: giving you sharper, safer, and better-performing knives—every time.
With thousands of satisfied customers across Toronto, we proudly sharpen everything from everyday mass-produced kitchen knives to rare, hand-forged Japanese blades. Whether your knife cost $10 or $1,000, we treat each one with the same level of precision and care.
A sharp knife isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.
A finely honed edge gives you:
• Safer cutting: Dull knives slip, bind, and cause injuries. Sharp knives cut cleanly and predictably.
• Faster prep: Smooth slicing reduces effort and improves efficiency in the kitchen.
• Better food quality: Sharp blades preserve texture, minimize bruising, and make cooking enjoyable again.
• Longer knife life: Proper sharpening removes minimal steel and keeps your knives performing like new.
Our mission is simple: make your knives a pleasure to use.
With years of experience and a deep understanding of both Western and Japanese blade geometry, we combine the art and science of sharpening using premium, professional-grade equipment:
Advanced low-speed grinders for cool, controlled sharpening
Custom belts and abrasives for precise, consistent edges
Expertise with chef’s knives, Japanese knives, serrated knives, single-bevel blades, pocket knives, and more
From minor touch-ups to full edge restoration, we bring your knives back to peak performance quickly and reliably.
We offer flexible options to fit your schedule:
• Same-day turnaround for most drop-offs
• While-you-wait sharpening (about 1 minute per knife)
• Easy appointments via text
• Plenty of free street parking nearby
Just drop off your knives and let us handle the rest.

Introducing Theodore Chan: Maestro of Blades
Theodore Chan is both a tenured double bassist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the owner/operator of Danforth Knife Sharpening, where he blends musical artistry with technical mastery to produce exceptionally sharp, reliable edges.
In music, the shape of the bow defines the sound. In sharpening, the shape of the blade defines the sharpness. Both require precision movement through three-dimensional space, consistent angles, and a trained sensitivity to the smallest details. This crossover—art, geometry, and technique—is exactly what Theodore brings to every knife, whether it’s a $10 grocery-store blade or a $10,000 hand-forged Japanese masterpiece.
With thousands of satisfied customers across Toronto, Theodore has earned a reputation for safe, consistent, and highly effective sharpening. His process uses professional low-speed equipment, proprietary techniques, and carefully selected abrasives to ensure a cool, controlled, razor-sharp edge that lasts.
A sharp knife isn’t just “nice to have”—it transforms your entire cooking experience making it safer, faster, better tasting, and more enjoyable. Click the link to the left to send a text and book today!

He was very gentle and very quick i.e on the spot service. Recommended to anyonePosted on Matt WatsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ted was great. He was quick to respond to messages, accommodated my schedule for drop off and had six knives back to me within an hour. He even noticed one blade needed a tip repair and didn’t at no extra cost. The work was very good and the knives once again cut like they did the day I bought them. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend Danforth Knife Sharpening.Posted on Jessica SeverinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After a disappointing experience with a kiosk that didn’t sharpen my knives at all, I found Danforth Knife Sharpening and couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend.Posted on Masha KTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service from Ted sharpening my kitchen knife last week. He responded promptly to my text booking an appointment, and then sharpened our knife in a few minutes while we waited. Now cuts even better than when it was new. Great workPosted on Jonathan PickupTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently found Danforth Knife Sharpening on Google because my utility knife was in dire need of a good, quality sharpening. DFS had many positive reviews, so I decided to reach out. The entire process from drop-off to pick-up was seamless, and to be honest - I think that DFS made my Benchmade knife sharper than it originally was from the factory. I am a happy customer indeed, and will be sure to return in the future with other knives!
